Country Director, South Sudan

Dr. Laurence Gunde, the Country Director for CMMB South Sudan, leads the country office’s efforts to strengthen health systems, build strategic partnerships, and expand CMMB’s impact in improving the health and dignity of vulnerable communities.

With more than 15 years of experience in medicine, public health, and international development, Laurence has worked alongside governments, donors, and communities to strengthen health systems and deliver sustainable health solutions in complex settings across Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to joining CMMB, he served in leadership and technical roles with several Global Health entities including the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Laurence holds a medical degree from the University of Malawi and a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is currently completing a Master of Business Administration with Heriot-Watt University. He is also a Public Health Emergency Management Fellow from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta.
