Today’s Gospel reminds us that Jesus’s invitation is extended to everyone.

At CMMB, we sometimes meet people during their most difficult moments. Through compassionate care, we seek to remind those who feel alone that they are not.

During her second pregnancy, Susy, a mother in Peru, was struggling. Burdened by the weight of supporting a family in a difficult economy and the loss of her mother, Susy’s physical health and mental well-being started to deteriorate.

In Peru, CMMB-supported community health workers are trained to recognize signs of anxiety and distress. They helped Susy get engaged in counseling sessions to help carry her grief and prioritize her mental wellness.

“I feel very grateful for the support they gave me in the most difficult moments of my life. I think I would not have made it alone. They came to me just when I needed them and gave me the help to be able to move forward.”

Her words remind us how important it is to know that we are not alone. In recognition of yesterday’s World Mental Health Day, we give thanks for those who make space for others during difficult moments. And we are reminded that, like the guests in today’s Gospel, we are all invited to the table.
