Kerna was a teacher for more than 20 years before being recruited as a community health worker in Côtes-de-Fer. As a life long resident of the region, Kerna knows the needs of the people are huge and obvious. Kerna is a CMMB trained and certified Community Health Worker and is proud to be able to contribute to the well being of women and children in her own community. Kerna educates the community about the importance of reducing maternal and infant mortality, and necessary changes in behavior regarding hygiene habits. Her work includes visits to rally posts, home visits, community meetings, and Mothers’ Clubs. Kerna says her work in the community brings her great joy.
