Seba Yepeta

Seba is from a rural area outside of Nzara, South Sudan. She is a Mentor Mother, a highly regarded type of community health worker. She first joined CMMB in January 2011 and is very serious when she says that “CMMB means life to this community.” Her main duties as a Mentor Mother involve following-up with clients in their homes (including pregnant mothers), their partners, and exposed infants living with HIV/AIDS—to ensure proper adherence to treatment. Seba supports and encourages women in her community through outreach about living with HIV and caring for children and through educating them about the importance of receiving health services from trained professionals at health facilities. She explains that there are many challenges facing her community, like the lack of access to clean drinking water, but she says that her first wish would be for “God to bring peace to South Sudan.”
