Comfort and Strength in Prayer—Your Weekly Reflection

What do you do after a day that just doesn’t go your way? Maybe you turn to a friend or a family member, lose yourself in a funny television show, or write in your journal. Everyone has their own way to cope with a challenging day. But today’s Gospel reminds us that there is lasting comfort and strength in prayer.
Jesus shares a parable about a widow who persistently seeks justice from a judge described as unjust and indifferent. Her experience is challenging, and the judge she turns to for help is far from understanding. Eventually, the judge finally grants her request for justice—but not out of compassion.
Jesus is not like the judge. He rewards persistence in prayer out of love, understanding, and faithfulness to his people. At CMMB, we practice persistence in prayer daily so that we can overcome challenges and reach our brothers and sisters in need.
The next time you face a challenge of your own, remember that Jesus walks beside you, heart open to your prayers.
