Trusting the path—Your Weekly Reflection

In Mutomo, a remote community of southern Kenya, CMMB volunteers Ellen and Andrew are preparing to bid farewell to the people and the work that have made Mutomo home for the past six months. Like John the Baptist, Ellen and Andrew did not begin their work with all the answers. They trusted in the path that brought them to serve their brothers and sisters at the Mutomo Mission Hospital—Ellen, as a neonatal nurse, and to help standardize operating procedures and training.
With hospital staff, Ellen and Andrew listened, learned, and shared their knowledge. With one another, they built new routines and opened their hearts to the changes that came with life in Mutomo. Some brought them comfort, others brought unfamiliar challenges. But they were all fully embraced.
In an early reflection on their experience Ellen and Andrew shared:
“Our service, like the tree, is still growing, but is sure to continue on and bear beautiful fruit in the months to come. Only in due time, and after persisting through the changing seasons, will it sprout delicious, juicy mangos.”
We look forward to seeing the fruits of their service with each changing season. Revisit their early reflection on our blog.
