In this week’s Gospel, the disciples experience a moment of clarity that strengthens their faith. On a mountain, Jesus transfigures before them, revealing his true identity. But the story does not end on the mountaintop. It leads them back into everyday life, where their faith must be put into action.

The second theme of Catholic Social Teaching reminds us that families are the foundation of every community. A just society supports families, helping them thrive so they can fully participate and belong. Yet too often, families facing disability, poverty, or stigma are pushed to the margins.

At CMMB, we see what happens when families are supported instead. When parents are given tools, when children receive care, when communities choose inclusion, dignity is restored not just to individuals, but to entire families.

Moments of clarity in faith are gifts. And how we use this clarity matters. In many ways, our Catholic Social Teachings leave us with moments of clarity. On this second Sunday of Lent, we reflect on Jesus’s call to family, community, and participation—and then we step forward to help ensure that every family has the opportunity to thrive.
