A Season of Renewal—Your Weekly Reflection

In this week’s Gospel, Jesus is faced with a test. Religious leaders approach him with a question about the law, believing it is a trick. The only answer Jesus can provide is the wrong one. Despite the setup, Jesus passes the test and responds in a way that surprises the leaders. It makes them consider their own actions, revealing that mercy is the heart of God’s justice. At CMMB, we read this moment and understand it as an opportunity for renewal—a new way for the religious leaders to see, understand, and extend grace.
Easter brings with it a season of renewal, reflected in the budding flowers, blooming trees, and brightening days around us. But the season of Lent invites us to renew ourselves as well—to embrace the promise of Jesus’s resurrection.
Tomorrow, World Health Worker Week comes to a close. At CMMB, we have felt the spirit of renewal in many ways over the past days. We witnessed a renewed celebration of health workers—their dedication, impact, and unwavering commitment to serving those in need. But with this celebration comes a renewed sense of urgency. Their work is vital, yet they continue to face new and old challenges that require our attention and investment.
As we reflect on this Gospel and this past week, may we open our hearts in preparation for Easter. May we carry forward our commitment to uplifting and supporting those who bring healing to our world.
