Global & Environmental Health Program Director, NYU School of Global Public Health

Dr. Chris Dickey leads the Global and Environmental Health Program (GEPH) at NYU’s School of Global Public Health (GPH). GEPH is the largest academic entity within GPH, with more than 300 graduate students, 3 MPH degrees, 3 Certificate Programs, and 11 faculty members.

Dr. Dickey is an international development innovator and public health entrepreneur whose work seeks to develop sustainable public health models and to forge bonds between the academic community and practitioners in the field. He addresses the myriad challenges facing public health, including vast health inequities, applied skills gaps among public health professionals, weak community health systems, and shrinking research budgets through a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary approach.

By using a learning model that combines systems thinking, bottleneck analysis, innovation, and implementable projects – in partnership with WHO, UNICEF, WFP, and several universities in the Global South – Dr. Dickey leads a series of courses in which international public health professionals and public health students learn and work together on real world problems. Additionally, Dr. Dickey founded and mentors the Applied Global Public Health Initiative, where graduate and undergraduate students have the opportunity to work on a series of projects on behalf of Global Health sponsors.

Dr. Dickey has a DrPH from the Mailman School at Columbia University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Earlier in his career, he co-founded a company that provides clean water and primary care in villages in Northern India.

Dr. Dickey joined the CMMB Board of Directors in 2022 and serves on the Program Committee.
