In today’s Gospel, Jesus calls His disciples away from isolation and toward community. When difficulties arise, they are encouraged to listen and reach out to others.

There are many challenges in life that can feel too great to face alone. But something powerful happens when we come together. A shared burden can become lighter. A difficult road can become more manageable. And individual acts of compassion can become part of something larger.

This is the spirit behind the Swim for Hope, a 28.5-mile open-water swim around the island of Manhattan on September 10. The swimmers, three of whom are cancer survivors, are making waves in support of CMMB’s work to strengthen access to quality cancer care in Kenya. Their separate journeys inspired them to take on this challenge, but together they will bring hope and care within reach of those who have, for too long, been forgotten.

We may not be able to solve every challenge on our own. But together, there is such promise. You can learn more about the Swim for Hope here.

Together, we can leave love and hope for those who follow.
