Jennifer Grissim
Volunteer Position: Community Nurse in Trujillo, Peru
Service Period: March 2022 – August 2022 (6 Months)
Background:Jennifer Grissim is a nurse and Bachelor of Global Health graduate, with 12 months of clinical experience in neonatal care, pre and postpartum, obstetrics, pediatrics, emergency, endocrinology, outpatient surgery, oncology and psychiatry. Jennifer also has academic experience in a Primary Care Community Nurse program, where she worked with disadvantaged families and learned therapeutic communication and culturally adapt her communication at Northwestern Medicine Prentice Women’s Hospital and Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital. Jennifer also has hands-on professional experience as a nursing assistant in Illinois, supporting in care facilities. Jennifer has international volunteering experience in Uganda working with Children of Peace Uganda in 2019 in a communication role, documenting the program through interviews and videos. Her 4 months working and studying in Spain equip her with the Spanish fluency needed to work in Peru.
