Faith Draws Us into Resilience and Trust—Your Weekly Reflection

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells his disciples not to “let their hearts be troubled,” and he assures them that they will go on to do even greater work. Spoken long before our time, these words continue to offer guidance and reassurance today. In a world marked by uncertainty and complexity, faith draws us into the same resilience and trust that grounded Jesus and his disciples. We see the truth of this lived out in the communities CMMB serves.
Earlier this year, CMMB responded to an Mpox outbreak impacting communities in South Sudan—one more challenge amid ongoing political instability, climate-related disasters, food insecurity, and a deadly cholera outbreak. Yet uncertainty only dims hope if it is allowed to do so. The people we serve in South Sudan have not let that happen. Through their perseverance and care for one another, they embody the resilience and trust that Jesus spoke into his disciples’ uncertainty.
In our latest report, you can learn more about CMMB’s ongoing Mpox response and meet two women whose courage—and whose commitment to protecting the ones they love—continues to inspire us.
