In today’s Gospel, a mother approaches Jesus with an urgent plea for her daughter. Though she is first considered an outsider by Jesus and His peers, her persistence and faith move Jesus. He responds with compassion. Jesus’s interaction with this mother in need reminds us that His love reaches beyond every boundary.

Faith, and the care it inspires, is meant for everyone.

This truth carries deeply into our work at CMMB, especially as we look ahead to World Water Week later in August. Clean water should never depend on where a person lives, yet for so many communities, it remains out of reach. In Loanja village in rural Zambia, Manga and her neighbors relied on a borehole that broke down constantly, forcing families to draw water from a contaminated well.

“My heart broke every time I saw the little ones sick because of the dirty water,” she said.

Today, with a reliable borehole installed by CMMB, Manga’s family has safe water every day—and enough to grow a vegetable garden that now supports her children’s education.

May we hold close the care our faith inspires and continue working so that no one is turned away from what they need to live and thrive.
