In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus shares a parable of the Prodigal Son. It is a story not only of repentance but of unexpected joy. When the younger son returns after squandering his inheritance, his father does not greet him with anger, as some may expect. Instead, he embraces his lost son, overwhelmed with love.

“This son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found,” says the father.

This father’s joy reminds us of our faith and the unconditional love we receive through it. No matter how far we stray off course, Jesus is always there to guide us back with open arms and a joyful heart. This joy is not passive—it is active, a love that celebrates life even after hardship.

At CMMB, we hold on to joy, even in the hardest times. As we begin World Health Worker Week, we celebrate those who bring healing and hope to communities around the world. In moments of uncertainty, we find joy in the certainty that health workers matter. They protect joy—ensuring that mothers can watch their children grow, that children can go to school and dream, and that communities can thrive.

Just as the father in the parable waited in hope for his son’s return, we remain steadfast in our commitment to health and dignity for all. And when healing happens, when lives are saved, when hope is restored—we rejoice.

May we embrace this Lenten season with open hearts, ready to share in the joy of renewal, reconciliation, and love.
