What We Are Willing to Give—Your Weekly Reflection

In today’s Gospel, Jesus and His disciples are surrounded by a hungry crowd with only five loaves and two fish to offer. Faced with such an overwhelming need, the disciples see only what they lack. Jesus, however, sees what can be done with the little they are willing to give. What seems insufficient becomes more than enough.
At CMMB, we know that no gift or act of kindness is ever too small. A visit from a community health worker can be the first step in helping a child overcome malnutrition. The compassion of a nurse can bring comfort and reassurance to an anxious mother. A donation of medicines can ensure that a father living with a chronic disease does not have to go without the treatment he needs. On their own, these moments may seem like small offerings. But together, multiplied day after day, they strengthen communities.
As we reflect on the miracle that unfolds in today’s Gospel, may we remember that God does not ask us to have everything. He simply asks us to bring what we have, trusting that He will use it to accomplish far more than we can imagine.
