Keep the Light Glowing—Your Weekly Reflection

Imagine it’s a cool, dark night. You’re sitting in front of an oil lamp, like the ones described in today’s Gospel. Your lamp offers a small yet steady light, but only if it has oil to keep burning, and only if we stay diligent about knowing when it needs replenishing.
Our faith, too, calls for ongoing care. We sustain it through the everyday choices we make to serve others, show compassion, and help our neighbors live healthier lives. This kind of commitment is at the heart of CMMB’s work.
Through our Noncommunicable Disease Impact Initiative, CMMB works to ensure that people living with chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension can access the care they need. We help strengthen the supply of the right medicines and medical supplies at facilities and support their health workers to manage these chronic conditions and provide more consistent care over time.
Just as a lamp needs oil to keep its light burning, strong healthcare needs continued support and investment to care for people over the long term. As we reflect on what sustains our own faith, may we also consider how we can help keep that care going for our brothers and sisters around the world, especially for conditions that require lifelong treatment.
