Bruce Wilkinson delivered the Commencement Speech at Notre Dame University Eck School of Global Health
Bruce Wilkinson, CMMB President & CEO, delivered the commencement address at the Notre Dame University Eck School of Global Health, at which the School awarded seventeen students with the professional degree of Master of Science in Global Heath. Bruce shared lessons that he has learned in the field, and that the end goal of work in strengthening health systems is not better health, but a better life. He encouraged Eck’s esteemed graduates to be street-smart and to take advantage of new opportunities, especially those in innovative, emerging infrastructures. Most importantly, he shared that students should know “why” they are working in global health—and to make it a vocation, and not just a job.
While in South Bend, Bruce visited with Father John Jenkins, current President of the University, who told said that “Notre Dame exists for a world deeply in need of healing.” Bruce was also honored to spend time with 93-year-old Fr. Theodore Hesburgh, President Emeritus of Notre Dame, who has been an inspirational leader in America for many years.
