Where is home? Brooklyn, New York

CMMB volunteer post: I am on the strategy and innovation team!

If you were asked to sum yourself up in two words, which two would you choose? Warm and Calm

Why CMMB? I admire CMMB’s mission to bring health care to those in the world who need it the most. I feel that most people are not kind enough and do not have enough love in their hearts in order to reach out and lend themselves towards projects for the greater good. I want to volunteer with CMMB because I plan on a future career in international relations or in a similar organization that deals with projects overseas. I feel that CMMB will allow me to receive the experience and knowledge of the inner-workings of non-profit organizations in an office setting.

What are you most proud of? I am most proud of standing up for myself in situations where I was alone with no support. I’ve slowly learned to speak up and refuse to let myself be taken advantage of.

Imagine you are stuck in an elevator. Who would you most like to be stuck with? And why? This is actually a really difficult question for me, but I suppose I would love to be stuck in an elevator with my high school U.S. history teacher. It’s an odd choice, but there are a lot of things I would love to know about him that he refused to answer. I’m curious and an elevator would be the perfect place for discussion because you can’t do anything else.

You are featured in the NY Times or your national newspaper. What’s the headline? “Teenage Girl Writes Self-Help Book… On Sleeping?”

What would be your theme song? I Aint Got Time – Tyler the Creator

Imagine if you were an animal, which would you be and why? I would definitely be a ferret. They are cute and slinky, chew through wires and are illegal in New York!

What is your hope for your experience volunteering with CMMB? I wish to learn how to interact in an office setting with coworkers and superiors. I’ve never been in a professional setting before and volunteering with CMMB will give me insight on how to conduct myself – and knowing what to say and when to say it.

Favorite quote: “I may not have been sure about what really did interest me, but I was absolutely sure about what didn’t.” – Albert Camus

What book should everyone read? Why? Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut is a classic, but unlike most classics it’s so enjoyable and so intelligent. It’s one of the best novels ever written in my opinion, but probably factually as well.

Who would you like to play you in the movie of your life? Make my life into a musical about cats and then cast my actual cat as me.

What is your hope for the future? I hope that one day I can be content and happy in what I do in my fields of study.

Favorite speech or Tedtalk: I do not think it has a title, but the speech Michelle Obama gave on women and the female experience at a campaign rally in New Hampshire for Hillary Clinton in October of 2016. It was moving.

If you could solve one world problem, what would it be? World Hunger. The fact that we have more than enough food, but people die of starvation every single day is one of the greatest crimes in the world. Tons of food is thrown out each day instead of given to the hungry because of money and because of politics. I don’t know how to solve this, but I desperately want it to be.

What are the three things you are most grateful for? My mother, the opportunities I have in my life, and friends.

Who is your biggest inspiration? Why? If I could put aspects of my father and aspects of my mother into one person – then that person would be my biggest inspiration.
