Overview
The Partnerships and Major Donor Engagement department is responsible for generating, sustaining and growing revenue and developing strategic partnerships with major donors, corporations, organizations, health systems and mid-tier foundations to raise resources in support of our strategies and mission.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President of Partnerships is responsible for developing CMMB’s strategic partnership and donor engagement plans aligned to our strategies; playing a lead role in conceptualizing and executing fundraising and partnership strategies; generating and growing revenue through cultivating, building, and maintaining high quality relationships and innovative partnerships in collaboration with the Program, Finance, Marketing and Direct Response donor teams. This position ensures revenue growth by leading the department, formulating strategy, implementing business development activities, and engaging directly in resource mobilization. Some travel is required.
Responsibilities
- Best of class resource mobilization, providing select institutional and individual major donors with an experience that connects in a meaningful, impactful way with those they support.
- Formulate and execute Partnerships strategy, setting annual revenue goals and overseeing the creation of fundraising and stewardship plans to achieve and exceed those goals.
- Raise resources for an established five-year, multi-million-dollar campaign.
- Plan and organize special events for fundraising and donor development.
- Implement innovative approaches to identify new networks of supporters and partners to expand and diversify our funding base, particularly with mid-tier foundations, corporations and family foundations.
- Actively engage with the Board’s Advancement Committee to develop and execute strategy and advance strategic partnerships.
- Develop and retain a high-caliber staff to ensure the goals of the Department are achieved in the most cost-efficient, professional manner; assist with the development of rigorous objectives that drive toward higher performance and staff career advancement.
- Inspire and manage highly professional fundraising department consisting of Directors, Major Gift Officers, Planned Gift Officer, and Senior Specialists.
- Manage the departmental budget.
- Manage a personal portfolio of major donors and prospects.
- Represent the organization at donor meetings, selected conferences and networking events.
- Demonstrate CMMB’s core values in action especially through collaboration with the Executive Team, Programs, Finance, Marketing, and Direct Response donor teams.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Passion for CMMB’s mission, vision and core values: collaboration love, excellence and respect.
- A commitment to building a positive organizational culture with transparency, honest feedback, perseverance, and a sense of humor.
- Proven leadership and organizational management skills, with the ability to engage staff, volunteers and partners
- At least ten years of experience in nonprofit fundraising with a proven track record of management and results from an assigned portfolio of relationships, and record of closing transformative gifts.
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated progressive relationship management.
- A talent for delivering persuasive and compelling presentations.
- Knowledge of best practices around the constituent journey experience.
- The ability to gain the trust of others, and a heartfelt respect for ethics and fiscal stewardship.
- Ability to deepen ties with partners, board members, and donors to accomplish fundraising goals.
- A creative thinker with superior written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
- A working knowledge of Planned Gift vehicles, including annuities, trusts, and bequests.
- Experience with Blackbaud Raisers Edge.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to strongly advocate on behalf of and fundraise for a faith-based organization
- Microsoft office suite of computer skills.
