Ahed is the Assistant Coordinator of Humanitarian Relief and Public Outreach for the Multifaith Alliance for Syrian Refugees (MFA), a CMMB partner who works to provide GIK shipments to support hospitals and civil services in the North West of Syria to civilians displaced and targeted by the Syrian Civil War.
Ahed was born and raised in Syria. She was one of the activists who helped to organize the first peaceful demonstrations in Aleppo. Sadly, Aleppo soon after became one of the worst scenes of devastation of the Civil War. During this period of bombing, Ahed volunteered as a hostile environment and first aid trainer in a local hospital. The facility she operated out of was targeted for bombing over 70 times while she was there because of the care it was providing to civilians wounded by the Assad Regime. One day, she left the hospital to get lunch for herself and some of her colleagues, and upon returning discovered the hospital bombed to rubble. Following this tragedy, she worked with a local humanitarian aid agency, endeavoring to map out health facilities and services for coordination of aid efforts. In 2016, Ahed applied for political asylum and relocated to New York.
Now, she still works to help her fellow Syrians. In addition to coordinating donations and shipments going to support facilities and services in Idlib through MFA, she is a public speaker in New York raising awareness for the conflict.
We thank you, Ahed!
