Beatrice received her community health worker training from CMMB and works at the Simungoma Rural health Post in Zambia with a catchment population of over 2,700. She is particularly proud of her ability to support pregnant women in the community. Trained to identify complex cases, Beatrice uses this knowledge regularly to refer expectant mothers to Mwandi Mission Hospital to get the emergency care they need. She says that it is common for women in this rural community to deliver their babies at home and encourages expectant mothers to receive the services available. She works hard to inform pregnant mothers about the benefits of receiving regular care at the health facility and encourages them to seek skilled, trained attendants when they give birth to ensure the best outcomes for both themselves and their babies.
