Pamela Avila

Volunteer Position: Nurse and Educator in Mutomo, Kenya

Service Period: January – May 2023

Background: Pamela has been a family nurse practitioner for 35 years. Her primary focus is in pediatrics, with expertise as a child abuse examiner and in general pediatric primary care. She also has a wealth of experience working in women’s health and providing sexual assault forensic exams. Pamela has varied professional experience having worked in outpatient clinics, schools, and psychiatric facilities. She has been a nurse practitioner faculty member, teaching advanced practice nurses and developing curriculum. Previously, Pamela taught midwives and nurses in Mexico, Ecuador, and Peru. While there, she developed educational resources.
