Peace and Purpose—Your Weekly Reflection

In today’s Gospel, Jesus sends out 72 disciples in pairs to pave the way for his mission. He warns them that the road will not be easy. “I am sending you like lambs among wolves,” Jesus said. And despite the challenges they will face, Jesus instructs his disciples to lead with peace. “Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this household.’” Even amid difficulty, peace is to be their purpose.
Jesus knew that following him would be hard. But he also knew it would be worth it.
Today, we face moments that test our commitment to peace. Whether in the face of division, inequality, or the burden of loss, peace can feel far away. But, firm in our faith, we are called—just as those first disciples were—to lead with love, to bring healing, and to never lose sight of the peace intended for all people.
At CMMB, we hold tight to that call. We serve in communities where peace is fragile and where daily life is marked by uncertainty. So, this week, let us recommit to that mission. May we be bearers of peace in our homes, our work, and our world, especially when it is hard. Because we are the bearers of our faith, and peace is the promise we are all called to fulfill.
