Light is a powerful symbol. As we read in today’s Gospel, the prophet Isaiah spoke of light overpowering the dark. Light can represent many things. But for us at CMMB, light is hope.

For over a century, we have worked in places that carry heavy burdens—where illness, poverty, and stigma have shaped daily life for generations. In these communities, we strive to be a steady light.

We recently wrote about our work to help those suffering from Hansen’s Disease, or leprosy, in Haiti. For too long, the diseases cause immense fear. People with the disease faced stigma and isolation. But almost a decade ago, light overpowered the dark with better access to compassionate diagnosis, successful treatment, and a commitment made by CMMB. We invite you to learn more about our commitment that continues today.

As we move into this new week, where else might we see the light? At CMMB, we know we will catch glimpses every day through the compassion and generosity of people like you, who make our work in Haiti, and around the world, possible.
