Today, we join you in reflection and renewal. We read portions of the Gospel according to Luke and learn about an early sign of Jesus’ teachings.

Jesus’ ministry inspires us at CMMB and guides us on our journey towards healthier lives worldwide. When we read about Jesus today, we find him in the synagogue. He has been given a scroll of the prophet Isaiah.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor,” Jesus reads. “He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.”

Jesus returns the scroll and says, “Today, this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”

These words remind us to open our hearts to the renewal of this Jubilee Holy Year. At CMMB, we affirm our commitment to our brothers and sisters in need, just as Jesus does here.

We will conclude today’s reflection by sharing an excerpt from The Jubilee Prayer.

Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your Kingdom.
