In the Dominican Republic, health comes at a cost. While basic, government healthcare is free, the medications needed to sustain health are not. This is especially dangerous for people living with chronic diseases and children growing up in circumstances where threats like malnutrition and water-borne illnesses are common.

Between June 2023 and May 2024, CMMB’s Medical Donations Program, with generous product support from Previnex Inc, distributed a crucial supply of over 13,000 bottles of children’s multivitamins to 18 different countries, restoring hope to families—including many living in the DR. These vitamins can help support a child’s immune system, maintain vital nutrients, and sustain health.

In the DR, where nearly 24% of the population lives below the poverty line, CMMB’s long-time and trusted partner, Food for the Poor, recently distributed 485 donated bottles of chewable multivitamins to children seeking free medical care.

Millianny’s Story: Health Restored

Millianny was one of the children who received these vitamins, free of cost, thanks to CMMB and Food for the Poor’s shared mission.

Millianny only sees her mom on the weekend—her job takes her far from home. During the week she lives under the care of her grandmother, Dignora. At just eight years old, her weight was low and her appetite weak. Her family grew increasingly worried. They decided to take her to a nearby facility for some tests. This facility happened to be in Food for the Poor’s network, recently receiving a shipment of children’s multivitamins from CMMB.

After getting the results back, the doctor recommended Millianny take a daily dose of the multivitamins to help her condition. CMMB’s Medical Donations Program, in partnership with Food for the Poor, is helping to make Millianny’s road to recovery possible. But she’s not the only one. For families unable to afford the medicines they need, we are restoring hope.

“I am so grateful for these vitamins,” Dignora said. “I would not have been able to afford them otherwise.”
