Water-related diseases kill 1 in 5 children globally every year.
One of CMMB’s main focus areas is clean water and sanitation. Through our W.A.S.H. programs, we identify vulnerable communities in some of the poorest, most remote regions in the world. Our team in Zambia identified a small village called Simungoma as a location in urgent need of clean water access. They recorded a high number of diarrhea and dysentery cases among children in the area due to lack of clean, safe water.
To address this, CMMB is in the process of building a borehole and installing solar pumps to ensure sustainable access to clean water in this community.
As a shared point of access, a simple borehole can be a landmark step toward health in a community. In addition to infrastructure, the CMMB team organizes water management committees and trains community health workers on hygiene education; they in turn teach entire communities to implement safe, healthy habits, such as hand-washing and water purification in their homes.
Make the dream of clean water a reality for communities like Simungoma. Your generous investment now will not only have an immediate impact but it will also serve future generations for years to come.
Projects like a borehole can cost a significant amount. In Mwandi, our goal is to build 50 at a cost of around $20,000 each. With help from generous friends like you, we can complete this work and further our mission to provide healthier lives worldwide.
