An Inspiring Story for All Souls Day
While we rejoice with every healthy baby born and child healed, our mission also includes kindness and dignity for the dying. For the past 15 years, CMMB medical volunteers, Dr. Al and Kathleen Hartmann have brought hope and dignity to the people of Swaziland.
The Hartmanns met Bheki in the final days of his life. He was emaciated and suffering from severe cancerous wounds.
The Hartmanns along with their Home Based Care team, bathed Bheki, treated his sores, fed him, and made him more comfortable. They said:
“Before we left, Bheki and his father sang a hymn and prayed with us. Bheki’s voice was barely audible but his peaceful face, his closed eyes and his lips moving as he prayed, was enough for us to know that he was comfortable and felt loved. When Bheki died, we knew that he passed away with dignity and the knowledge that people cared for him. That he mattered. That he would be remembered.”
With the support of compassionate friends like you, we honor a commitment to health and human dignity in life and death. Please be as generous as you can to support our work with the sick. The Hartmanns remind us that even when there is nothing left to be done, there is still something that can be done; there is always love.
