In this week’s Gospel, a man born blind receives his sight, and the world around him struggles to make sense of it. Leaders refuse to believe. Even the man’s own parents step back out of fear. And yet, through it all, the man who was healed holds on to what he knows to be true: “I was blind, and now I see.”

The fourth theme of Catholic Social Teaching calls us to make a commitment to those who have the least among us—to see those who are most often overlooked. In a world where inequality continues to grow, the most vulnerable are too frequently overlooked.

At CMMB, choosing to see means choosing to serve. From the very beginning, rooted in a legacy of service in Haiti, we have stood alongside women, children, and communities facing poverty, disaster, and violence—not because the work is easy, but because every life seen is a life restored to dignity.

On this fourth Sunday of Lent, we are invited to examine our own view. How might we open our eyes? And then, like Jesus, we may move toward what we see.
