Sharing the Giving Spirit: Meet David
The end of the year invites us to slow down and reflect on the people we hold close, the traditions that ground us, and the ways we choose to give. For all of us at CMMB, this season is also a moment of deep gratitude for our supporters. We’re proud to highlight the individuals whose commitment makes our work—and so many lives changed—possible.
David remembers with fondness and pride how his father was always the first to lend a helping hand. He saw that same compassion in his mother, who spent every holiday collecting well-loved but forgotten dolls, cleaning them, and sewing them new clothes. She wanted every child to have something to open on Christmas.
“I come from a family with a rich tradition of generosity,” shared David, a longtime friend and donor of CMMB.
Today, David continues his parents’ tradition by giving through CMMB’s annual Christmas catalog. His extended family forgoes exchanging presents, so instead, David donates in honor of each of his nieces and nephews—passing on the same spirit of generosity his parents instilled in him.
For David, it has always been important that his generosity reaches his neighbors, both near and far. He dedicated his career to serving his community, first at a non-profit that supported the elderly and later as a special education teacher. Now, he directs his giving to organizations like CMMB, where he knows his compassion can have a global reach.
“I felt that my own personal outreach should go beyond my community on a global level.
When we asked David what inspires his giving, his answer was simple. It all comes down to gratitude.
“Generosity, for me, is always tied to gratitude,” he shared. “For me to be in a position where I am able to be generous means I am in a situation that I should be grateful for. And the bottom line with generosity is that it feels so good.”
As for what draws him to CMMB, it’s our global impact and careful stewardship of every gift. With CMMB, he knows his support reaches those who need it most.
Thank you, David. Your compassion for our brothers and sisters around the world inspires us, and it’s a blessing to call you a friend of CMMB.
