In this week’s Gospel, Joseph learns that his plans will not unfold as expected. Faced with uncertainty, he chooses trust, compassion, and responsibility over fear. In a dream, when he is asked to trust his faith implicitly and welcome a pregnant Mary into his home, he does so without hesitation.

As we move through Christmas week, this message feels especially timely. The season invites celebration of, and reflection on, the year that’s nearly behind us—and the new one that approaches. Like Joseph, we are called to step forward with trust, grounded in faith.

At CMMB, this Gospel echoes the way we approach our mission. Our work requires long-term commitment, thoughtful planning, and the willingness to show up for communities even when progress is gradual and challenges persist. We may not always see the full impact of our efforts, but we believe deeply in the importance of taking each faithful step.

May this story stay with us as a reminder that meaningful change sometimes begins with a single step instead of a grand gesture. But it always begins with a decision to care for others.
