Gratitude for the gifts we can share—Your Weekly Reflection

“For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in the sight of all the peoples a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.” – Luke 2:30-32. These are the words that Simeon speaks upon meeting baby Jesus in the temple. Simeon was not alone in his recognition of Jesus. Anna, a woman who spent day and night in the temple, saw the promise and gifts in young Jesus, too.
Our Gospel tells us that Jesus’ parents were amazed at how Jesus was received. They returned home to Nazareth, and, at the Gospel’s conclusion, we learn more about Jesus’ future.
“The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.” – Luke 2:40. What comes to your mind when reflecting on how Simeon and Anna received Jesus? At CMMB, we recognize emotions of gratitude and excitement—similar to those one may feel when receiving a gift.
This reading inspires us to do as Jesus did with his ministry. To leave behind actions that others receive as gifts. Whether in a kind word passed to a stranger, an act of forgiveness, or a sacrifice made to raise another, there are many ways to share a gift of faith.
Thank you for sharing the gift of community and trust with us at CMMB. We appreciate you and your belief in our mission. Together, our compassion is reaching communities with lifesaving access to care—and the reminder that they are not alone.
