In today’s Gospel, we read about Jesus as a healer, and his compassion for all people.

The disciples that joined Jesus in last week’s Gospel, accompanied him to Capernaum. Here, Jesus began to teach.

Our Gospel tells us: “The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.”

While Jesus taught, a troubled man cried out. The man says, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”

Jesus, observing that the man was troubled, spoke to him. At Jesus’ words, the man was healed, and the crowd amazed.

What do we take away from today’s Gospel? For us at CMMB, Jesus as a healer to all, inspires our mission. Time and time again we have read about Jesus’ healing ministry, delivered with compassion and dignity to all. These are the very values that we serve with at CMMB. Thank you for helping us live out these values.
