Sister Maria Rosa Leggol is known as the Mother Teresa of Honduras. She is founder of Sociedad Amigos de los Niños, a beneficiary organization of CMMB’s Medical Donations Program.
Sociedad Amigos de los Niños (“SALN”) was launched in 1996 to house and help orphans, among the poorest and most vulnerable in society, throughout the country. In the process of building group homes for the children, Sister Maria Rosa did not stop when she saw the need for a hospital. Now, at 93, she still actively oversees all branches of the organization. She also works with parishes in the US to organize mission teams for short term trips to provide care at SALN facilities and to serve those in greatest need.
MDP HERO! Sister Maria Rosa is an inspiration. She saw fit to take action to create the shelters and ensure needed healthcare services were available to those who could not advocate for themselves.
Thank you, Sister Maria Rosa!
