Today, we revisit the story that details King Herod’s reaction to the news of Jesus’ birthand the events that unfold afterward. As we reflect on the Magi’s journey to find Jesus, we are reminded to keep our hearts open and trust in the signs that guide us.

In our Gospel reading, the Magi see Jesus’ star rising and prepare to pay him homage. When King Herod learns of this, he tells the Magi to find Jesus in Bethlehem.

“Go and search diligently for the child. When you have found him, bring me word, that I too may go and do him homage.” – Mathew 2:8

The Magi set out on their journey, letting the star guide them to Jesus. Upon arriving, they paid homage to the newborn and offered him gifts.

“Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their country by another way.” – Matthew 2:11

What message do you hear in this Gospel? There are many. For us at CMMB, we are drawn to the theme of trust and guidance—especially in these early days of the new year. As we embark on a new chapter, we do so with open hearts.
