The disciples are gathered behind locked doors, unsettled and uncertain, when Jesus appears among them. He does not dwell on what has been hard, nor does he leave room for fear or anger. He simply says, “Peace be with you.” Then he sends them forward.

This week, CMMB celebrated World Health Worker Week by honoring the staff of Bishop Joseph Sullivan Hospital in Côtes-de-Fer, Haiti. These men and women have kept moving forward to care for their patients through a difficult chapter in their country’s history, keeping their doors open to the thousands of people who depend on them.

These doctors, nurses, lab technicians, and more do not dwell on what has been hard. They do not leave room for fear or anger. Their commitment remains to the well-being of their patients.

On this Second Sunday of Easter, we give thanks for those who keep moving forward despite the hardships they have faced. May we find the courage to do the same.

P.S. You can learn more about what’s been going on at Haiti’s Bishop Joseph Sullivan Hospital and how we celebrated its staff over World Health Worker Week on our blog.
