Luke gives more attention to Jesus’ teachings on prayer than any other Gospel writer. In today’s reading, Jesus shares the parable about the persistent neighbor who asks a friend for bread at midnight. The friend is already in bed and has no desire to disturb his family by opening the door. But because the neighbor is persistent, the sleeping man gets up and gives him all that he needs.

If a neighbor is willing to help us if we are persistent enough, how could God not respond to our requests? Through Luke’s Gospel and Jesus’ teachings, we are assured that God hears our prayers and answers them.

Tomorrow, please be on the lookout for our quarterly e-newsletter in which we will be sharing some stories about how far your support, love and prayers have traveled to make a difference in the lives of women, children and communities worldwide.  For so many people around the world, life revolves around the daily struggles of war, violence, and scarcity of resources like water, food, shelter and healthcare.

Today and every day, please keep them in your thoughts and add them to your prayers.  With the power of prayer, we know that God will find a way to ease their burdens.

Thank you for being part of our community. None of this is possible without your support.
