In today’s Gospel, Jesus teaches the disciples how to pray and take action. We may consider that Jesus is encouraging the disciples to approach their faith with persistence and trust. Prayer is not passive; it is acting in faith.

At CMMB, we hold both prayer and action at the heart of our mission. We pray for peace, healing, and hope, and our actions reflect those prayers. Today, we pray for our brothers and sisters in South Sudan, where violence and instability have caused suffering that now stands to deepen with the surge of a deadly cholera outbreak. Our prayers continue, but the outbreak has compelled us to take action, sending our teams into new regions where help is urgently needed.

We follow the need because we are called to do so. And we are deeply grateful to those who choose to do so with us. The early support we’ve received for our emergency cholera response reminds us that we are not alone in this work. Together, through faith and persistence, we can share comfort and healing. Together, we can open new doors.

As Jesus teaches us this week: “Ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” May our prayers always move us to action, and may our actions always reflect true compassion.
