Sent Forth, Even in Uncertainty—Your Weekly Reflection

In today’s Gospel, we find the disciples behind locked doors, fearful of persecution and overcome with uncertainty. Jesus appears among them and speaks familiar words: “Peace be with you.” With that peace, he also gives them a mission: “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”
Even in fear, even in doubt, the disciples are called to act.
At CMMB, we are reminded of this moment as we observe the unwavering commitment of our team in South Sudan. In a region gripped by instability and violence, our staff show up each day to serve. Their work has never been easy. And the current context heightens every challenge they face.
But as we learn from our Gospel, our faith gives us the strength to serve not only in times of ease, but especially in times of uncertainty.
The challenges in South Sudan are real. Yet so is the compassion of those who care for others, fueled not by circumstance but by mission. They continue to provide care while bearing witness to suffering, hope, and resilience. Their courage is a response to Jesus’ call.
This season, we remember that discipleship is about showing up with compassion, offering peace, and walking forward—even when the road in lined with uncertainty.
We will not stop praying for peace. We will not stop stray from the path ahead.
