Originally from Edina, Minnesota, Mark knows the African continent very well, having lived in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Gabon, the Republic of Congo, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire), where he was struck by lightning. In Africa, Mark held many leadership roles for organizations including CARE; World Vision; Africare; USAID; IRC, for whom he managed all activities in both the Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic ; and the Peace Corps, whose activities he directed in both Gabon and São Tomé. Mark joined CMMB in mid-2014 to lead the Country Programs team.

That Mark is passionate about international development is evidenced by his thirty-four year career in the field. In his extensive experience overseas, he has found the most effective means to make a real difference is to focus on helping women and children. Mark’s most important job is as father to his two daughters and his son.
