Mary P. Leahy
CEO, Bon Secours Charity Health System
As a physician, collaborative leader, and tireless community volunteer, Dr. Mary Leahy has created a quiet legacy of commitment to the community and an impressive professional career. She is a board-certified internist who has been practicing medicine in Rockland County, New York for over 25 years. In 2013, Dr. Leahy was named CEO of Bon Secours Charity Health System, with responsibility for setting the system’s strategic vision and providing leadership for system-wide operations and performance for three acute care hospitals. In addition, she oversees the Bon Secours Medical Group, a regional home health care agency, two long-term care facilities, an assisted living facility, and an adult home.
Dr. Leahy received her Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from Boston College and completed her internal medicine residency at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center in Bronx, NY, where she served as chief medical resident from 1985-86. Following that, she completed a fellowship in nephrology at New York Medical College’s Westchester Medical Center campus. She then formed and operated her own successful solo practice before joining several other physicians to launch Rockland Pulmonary & Medical Associates (RPMA)—a multi-specialty group that has experienced continuous growth ever since. In fact, today, RPMA is the largest primary care practice in Rockland County and is part of the Bon Secours Medical Group.
Dr. Leahy has been honored by numerous organizations throughout her career and was recently named a member of the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board. In 2017, she was named one of 16 winners of the Hudson Valley Magazine Sixth Annual Women in Business Awards and received the RBA Pinnacle Award for Outstanding Achievement by a Woman in Business. She also serves on the Boards of Catholic Charities of New York, Rockland Business Association and Rockland Economic Development Corporation.
Dr. Leahy joined the CMMB Board of Directors in 2019 and serves on the Advancement and Programs Committees.
