As 2025 comes to a close, we reflect on a year filled with both progress and challenges. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, CMMB reached women, children, and their communities in the world’s most vulnerable places, saving lives through prenatal care, safe deliveries, and nutrition support.

We also expanded access to treatment for noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), cancer, and mental health, and we continued our HIV work. Amid unprecedented changes to humanitarian aid, we responded to emergencies in South Sudan and Haiti. In every place we served, we advocated for health workers and supported them with training and other resources.

Throughout this busy year, we shared stories about the progress we made and the lives we touched on CMMB’s blog. Here are ten posts worth revisiting from 2025.

1) Saving Kitui’s Tiniest Lives: Inside the New Neonatal Care Unit with Nurse Irene

Every month, the Little Angel’s Newborn Unit at Kitui County Referral Hospital welcomes 60 to 80 newborns who were born too soon or need extra support before they can go home. Read about how Nurse in Charge Irene and her team of health workers care for these fragile lives so that more newborns have the chance to survive and thrive in this remote part of Kenya.

2) New Mothers’ Shelter Supports Safer Childbirth in Zambia

Mbwawa lives in rural Zambia, far from a health facility. She spent her first pregnancy worried about what would happen to her and her baby if something went wrong during childbirth. As she prepared to give birth to her second child, Mbwawa had more peace of mind, thanks to a new mothers’ shelter constructed by CMMB. Read about how these new shelters give pregnant women a safe place to stay near health facilities as their due dates approach.

Strong mental health is an important part of a person’s overall well-being. But many people struggle to find the help they need for depression and anxiety. CMMB Peru is dedicated to providing mental healthcare to health workers and pregnant women. In this blog post, we shared how we serve the whole person.

4) Bringing Lifesaving Nutrition Support to South Sudan

South Sudan faced extraordinary challenges in 2025, including a deadly cholera outbreak, severe hunger crisis, and violent political upheaval. CMMB continues to reach South Sudan’s vulnerable populations with lifesaving nutrition support.

5) Haiti Faces a Desperate Situation

Haiti is where CMMB’s commitment to service began, and for decades, we have walked with its people as they confronted crisis after crisis. This year brought extreme challenges, with gang violence continuing to devastate Haiti’s already strained health system. Yet hope remains. Learn how we continue to serve people like Julien, who stays healthy with the free diabetes medication CMMB provides.

6) The Heart of Health

Noncommunicable diseases like cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes are responsible for nearly three-quarters of all deaths in low- and middle-income countries. CMMB’s Access to Medicines Program brings affordable essential medications to hard-to-reach places, saving lives and reducing the burden on health systems. Learn how our work makes it possible for health workers like Eliud to treat patients living with hypertension and diabetes.

Clean, safe drinking water is fundamental for well-being. Thanks to our nearly decade-long partnership with P&G, CMMB helps more families in crisis access the water they need to stay healthy. Learn about what CMMB and P&G have achieved together.

10) Hand in Hand Across Borders: Progress in Nzara

With a growing number of patients seeking care at St. Theresa Hospital in Nzara, South Sudan, the facility needed better protocols to prevent infection. CMMB’s team of volunteers worked with St. Theresa’s staff to transform its approach, helping to reduce the risk of dangerous infections. Read about why our work earned special recognition from the World Health Organization.

Thank you for supporting CMMB. As we welcome the New Year, we are committed to transforming the lives of more women, children, and their communities by bringing healthcare closer to home.
