The Blessings Around Us—Your Weekly Reflection

For us at CMMB, today’s Gospel leaves us to reflect on our blessings. They appear all around us in many different ways. Some are loud and easy to recognize. Others are so quiet we may forget they are there at all. But when we take these moments to reflect on them all, we find ourselves grounded in gratitude, purpose, and faith.
And we are not alone.
Dr. Mahvash and Neonatal Nurse Ashley volunteered together with CMMB in Nzara, South Sudan. In this hot, humid, and extremely remote environment, they learned to save lives with very few resources they had. What they lacked, they found in one another and in the commitment of their colleagues—local health workers wanting to do the best they could for their patients.
Within the halls of St. Theresa Hospital, Dr. Mahvash and Nurse Ashley found blessings in the mothers who smiled as they held their newborn babies. They found blessings in the resilience and growing confidence of the colleagues whose skills they helped strengthen.
