An Integrated Approach to Health
At CMMB, our commitment to women and children is lifelong, and we accompany the communities we are privileged to serve on the journey toward a healthy life. From pregnancy through adulthood, we deliver sustainable change. Built on decades of experience, our integrated approach to health delivers impact across the most critical stages of life.
This journey often begins in our distribution center in New York, where a box of lifesaving medicine, donated by one of our pharmaceutical partners, is carefully hand packed. It may travel more than 8,000 miles to reach one of hundreds of partner health facilities. In places like South Sudan, this box of medicine and supplies is the difference between life and death for a sick child or pregnant woman.
A healthy life begins in the womb. That’s why our interventions begin with prenatal care (including HIV testing) and continue with skilled deliveries at quality facilities. Fragile newborns living in extreme poverty are especially vulnerable. With regular, accessible screenings, babies and young children are monitored by active networks of community health workers to ensure that the youngest receive care, immunizations, and a chance to survive.
The journey isn’t just about physical health. Emotional well-being is critical. That’s why we support families with health education and economic empowerment programs, sharing the necessary tools for lifelong health and sustainable incomes. Sometimes life takes an unexpected turn. During times of crisis, conflict, and emergency, we continue to support healthy lives for women and children wherever they are, with skilled medical volunteers and supplies.
In 2017, CMMB reached more than one million people with critical health and social services.
We are proud to reflect on 2017 as a milestone year for CMMB. Together, we made a difference, reaching more than one million people with healthcare. We are humbled by and grateful for our partnerships with compassionate individuals, along with corporations, foundations, universities, faith-based partners, governments, and so many others.
