Third Sunday of Easter – Your Weekly Catholic Reflection from CMMB
“Rejoice, rejoice and sing, rejoice and be glad… for earth and heaven are joined and humanity is reconciled to God!”
(From the Exsultet, “Book of Common Prayer”)
As we rejoice in the ongoing celebration of Easter, there is a deep hunger to re-orient our lives toward life and light, healing and peace. Easter celebrates the victory of light and life over darkness and death. Our lives re-center in what is most holy and creative, the new thing God is continually doing in our midst. Practicing vulnerability toward the need and hunger of others around us, we strive to culivate compassionate hearts. We join in baptismal rebirth in the midst of Jesus’ own passing-over.
The Easter season celebrates life and birth, and is solemnized during spring, which enthralls us with its bounties and beauties. However, the bliss of the Easter season is not just limited to natural beauties. In fact, this is a time to feel the real blessings of God, and to prayerfully thank Him for His eternal gifts.
