In today’s Gospel, we read about the moment Jesus ascends into heaven, leaving his disciples with a blessing and a mission: to witness.

“You are witnesses of these things,” Jesus tells them—of his suffering, death, and resurrection. The disciples had walked beside Jesus. They were not only witnesses to his ministry, but also to the expectations he left with them to live his love boldly in the world.

At CMMB, we are witnesses too. We witness the injustice of communities burdened by poverty and illness fueled by inequity. But we also witness resilience, courage, and the strength that faith inspires. In the social workers and counselors who dedicate themselves to helping others prioritize mental health, in the pregnant women who travel miles so they can deliver with the support of trained health workers, and in the communities that come together to create healthier futures—we witness the Gospel in action.

To be a witness is not to see. It is to see and respond. Jesus left his disciples with a purpose—to serve their brothers and sisters. We, too, are keepers of this purpose.
Join us as we carry our mission forward. Let us witness—and act—so that healing, hope, and solidarity may be extended to all.
