Volunteer Position: Nutrition and Marketing Specialist in Mwandi, Zambia

Service Period: January – May 2023

Background: Deborah has a MSc in nutrition and is beginning a PhD in integrative and functional nutrition. She has worked in health care food services throughout a 20-year career in nutrition. Deborah has been involved in nutrition public health programs in Minnesota (Minnesota Open Arms) on Blizzard Boxes, where she supported communities with lack of food access because of financial and geographical constraints. Deborah is a certified health educator specialist and has produced some basic educational modules on nutrition and hygiene. She also has an MBA in marketing and has career experience in communications and marketing. Debbie is currently working with teams in Asia and Africa in advertising, communications, and social media. Deborah has spent time, through work and service trips, in Guatemala, Tanzania and Kenya.
