Water is essential. Without it, we cannot survive. In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that we deserve more than survival. He speaks of a life of renewal, trust, and faith. A life where no one will thirst.

Catholic Social Teaching affirms that every person has the right to life and to the resources needed to live with dignity. Necessities like safe water, nutritious food, healthcare, and safe childbirth are the foundations of CMMB’s mission to build healthier lives worldwide. Sadly, too many families around the world lack access to the essential services that protect life.

When a woman has access to prenatal care, when she can give birth safely, and when her child receives proper nutrition, life is protected—dignity is upheld.

This Lent, we are invited to notice the thirst around us and to respond. To help ensure that no mother, no child, no family is left without the basic care they need to not just survive but to thrive.
