Meet Our New Volunteer in New York: Olivia Piluso
Olivia is currently studying at Fairfield University, double majoring in politics and international studies. She is interested in global health and international development, which makes CMMB a perfect fit!

Where is home: Long Island, New York.
CMMB volunteer post: I will be an intern with the communications team.
If you were asked to sum yourself up in two words, which two would you choose? Reliable and passionate.
Why did you choose CMMB? I found CMMB through my personal research on non-profits in New York City and through the internship program at Fairfield University. I wanted to expand my experience of international relations in the real world of work. CMMB seemed to work cohesively with developing countries, with a focus on women and children, which I found to be incredible.
What are you most proud of? I am most proud of the fact that I can stand up for myself.
Imagine you are stuck in an elevator. Who would you most like to be stuck with? And why? If I were to be stuck in an elevator I would most want to be stuck with my dad since he is extremely efficient and logical when dealing with stressful situations.

Imagine if you were an animal, which would you be and why? I would like to be an owl because I admire their characteristics. They are known to be a creatures of integrity and wisdom, which are two qualities that I hope to further develop in my life.
What is your hope for your experience volunteering with CMMB? I am hoping to learn, build upon my existing skills, and create new skills during my experience at CMMB.
Favorite quote: Treat others the way you want to be treated.
What book should everyone read? Why? A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini because I believe it encourages readers to want to learn more about different cultures.
Who would you like to play you in the movie of your life? Sophia Bush.
What is your hope for the future? My hope for the future is that there will be some form of resolution for the current refugee crises.
If you could solve one world problem, what would it be? If I could solve one world problem it would be to abolish the negative relationship between developing countries and their past colonizer.
What are the three things you are most grateful for? Family, health, and education.
Who is your biggest inspiration? Why? People that inspire me the most are organic farmers. Without them we would not have sustainable and healthy food. They are one of the main drivers of sustainability.
