On January 7th, 2021, in response to a motion filed on behalf of Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB), a California trial court ruled that the California Attorney General’s (CAG’s) cease & desist order and related fine were unconstitutional.

This follows an earlier ruling whereby a California administrative law judge ruled CMMB abides by and properly values its pharmaceutical donations (gifts-in-kind) in line with all generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), as confirmed and approved by independent auditing firms.

During this long process, CMMB remained confident in our position and decision to rightly protect the reputation of this organization and those who work to bring improved access to healthcare to some of the poorest communities in the world.
